The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Ntim has pulled out from the party’s ongoing ‘Thank You Tour’.
According to the party, Stephen Ntim, has temporarily stepped away from the nationwide ‘Thank You Tour’ to attend to pressing matters.
Although he is no more joining the party on the Thank You Tour, the party asserts that Stephen Ntim is still committed to its cause, and assured its members that he will rejoin the tour in due time.
In the NPP assured members that Mr. Ntim remains fully committed to the tour and will rejoin the team in due course.
“The New Patriotic Party wishes to inform all members and the public that the National Chairman has taken a short break from the ongoing nationwide ‘Thank You tour’ to attend to some pressing matters,” parts of a statement signed on Thursday, May 1, by the party’s Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah read.
The party expressed gratitude to its members for their continued support, enthusiasm, and unwavering commitment throughout the tour.
Stephen Ntim’s withdrawal from the tour comes just days after Kennedy Agyapong a former member of Parliament and flagbearer aspirant pulled out of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Thank You Tour.
Kennedy Agyapong’s withdrawal followed the stabbing of a student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Kennedy Agyapong speaking to the media stated, “For unity’s sake, I felt it was important to join Dr Bawumia on his ‘Thank You’ tour. But from all indications, it’s very clear I’m not wanted.”
“Because of yesterday’s events, myself and my team want to pull out because lives are threatened. I don’t think I can adequately protect my team.”
“The reason I am withdrawing is mainly to protect my people. But we will regroup, and at the appropriate time, we will also do what we have to do to help the party and enhance my chances.”
“I have seen that some groups from Dr. Bawumia’s camp want me to speak, so they twist things. I want to plead with the NPP fraternity to desist from such one-sided politics—it will not help us”, he cautioned.
The nationwide tour, endorsed by the NPP’s National Council, comes in the wake of the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections to the National Democratic Congress (NDC). It aims to thank supporters and the general public for their backing during the electoral process, while also promoting unity within the party and acknowledging divine guidance.
