Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor is demanding GHC30 million in damages.

The defamation suit follows a post made by Rev. Ntim Fordjour on May 8, 2025, on X alleging that Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor acted as Vice Chairman of the Committee on Subsidiary Legislation during a period when former Kwabena Adu-Boahene the National Signals Bureau boss, alleged he paid GH¢360,000 to the committee to help facilitate the passage of a Legislative Instrument (L.I.).

According to Kwabena Adu-Boahene, allowances of GH¢960,000 and GH¢309,000 were paid to MPs on the Defence and Interior Committee and the Subsidiary Legislation Committee.

Rev. Fordjour called for an investigation involving Mr Dafeamekpor and others. The majority chief whip however denied the allegations labelling them as “false, malicious, and defamatory.”

The Majority Chief Whip is seeking a retraction and public apology from Rev. Fordjour and also an interlocutory injunction to restrain the MP from making or sharing further statements pending the conclusion of the defamation suit.

The suit reads, “The Plaintiff has further suffered economic harm, loss of business, disruption to his professional activities, and extreme emotional distress as a result of the widespread dissemination and continuous accessibility of the defamatory statements,”

“The Plaintiff says that the defamatory statements made by the Defendant and published on ‘X’ formerly ‘Twitter’ are untrue and same was made with calculated malice, aforethought in order to paint the plaintiff as a person who is corrupt and accepts bribes to pass Legislations of Parliament.”

“An order of perpetual injunction restraining the Defendant from making or in any other way, causing to be published any further defamatory statements about the Plaintiff. An order directed at the Defendant to retract the said defamatory statement made about the Plaintiff and posted online,” the suit demands.
