Dr Rashid Tanko-Computer, the Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed allegations made by the embattled former National Signals Bureau boss who alleged that GHC5.1 million of the GHC 49 million he is alleged to have stolen was used to buy 3 vehicles for President John Mahama.
According to Dr Rashid Tanko-Computer, he knows President Mahama’s calibre and he won’t stoop low to this.
The NDC man dismissed the allegation and accused the NPP of fabricating the story to ruin the image of President Mahama.
Speaking on Eyewitness News he stated, “I don’t know anything about this. How can that be possible? I know the calibre of the President we have, he won’t stoop that low to this”.
Kwabena Adu-Boahene the embattled former Director of the National Signals Bureau (NSB) days ago dropped a bombshell from his EOCO cells where he is currently being held.
The former National Signals Bureau boss has shockingly alleged that GHC5.1 million of the GHC 49 million he is alleged to have stolen was used to buy 3 vehicles for President John Mahama.
According to his letter, he claimed 5,135,000 cedis was used to buy a 2024 Nissan Patrol Platinum, 2024 Nissan Patrol Titanium and 2022 Land Cruiser GXR.
He further claimed the money was paid to a special aide to President Mahama.
He further denied any wrongdoing saying, “I give you my highest assurances that Angela [wife] and I would never steal public funds, as is being deliberately and wickedly portrayed by the Attorney-General. In any case, how does one steal public funds in the manner being described by the Attorney-General without being flagged by the Auditor-General?
“Further, I give you my highest assurances that Angela [wife] and I would never take what does not belong to us, even if privately arranged. We are full of content with the modest blessings God has given us,” he wrote.
His letter added, “What is evidently clear is that the EOCO boss, Raymond Archer is deliberately misrepresenting or distorting the facts to the authorities, and in the process causing unnecessary sensation that could embarrass the government and national security, and I am craving your urgent intervention to avert it before it becomes too late”.
He has since been remanded by an Accra High Court.
According to the court, Kwabena Adu-Boahene will be remanded for seven working days to enable the Attorney General Dr Dominic Ayine to complete the preparation of its witness statements.
He is to be remanded in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for seven working days.
