Franklin Cudjoe, the President of the policy think tank IMANI Africa has waded in on the former Attorney General and Minister of Justice Godfred Dame representing suspended Chief Justice Torkornoo.
According to Franklin Cudjoe, Godfred Dame representing the Chief Justice is not a smart idea.
In a post on X, Franklin Cudjoe wrote, “It is not a smart idea for the beleaguered Chief Justice to ask the rabidly partisan former AG and the last regime’s chief persecutor to represent her in her travails in court”.
His comment comes following the suspended CJ filed a lawsuit at the Supreme Court to stop the five-member committee probing her removal.
On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, the Chief Justice requested an interlocutory injunction to halt all proceedings of the committee.
She’s seeking an injunction to halt proceedings, remove two justices Pwamang and Adibu-Asiedu from the panel, and quash her suspension issued by President Mahama.
Meanwhile, Godfred Yeboah Dame has stated it is about time good men of this country stood up for what is right.
The former AG asserted that representing suspended Chief Justice Torkornoo is not a sign of NPP alignment.
According to Godfred Dame, his action is in line with his long-standing commitment to defending the Judiciary a stance he says has defined his career from the beginning.
Speaking on JOY FM, Godfred Dame stated, “It is about time that good men in this country speak for what is righteous and what is right. If there is any Attorney-General who, right from his appointment, has stood up for the judiciary and spoken against attacks on it, it is myself.
It is not right and must be corrected. It is about time that proper things are stood for in this country. We cannot let people mislead the public and let it go uncorrected.”
He added, “It is about time that the proper things are stood for in this country and we cannot let people mislead the public and go uncorrected. I am making the point the action I have taken is consistent with all actions I have taken right from the first day I was appointed Attorney General.
What I am doing now is very much in tune and consistent with all I have stood for all my life. Indeed it is not about Justice Torkonoo at all it is about ensuring that this unwarranted attack on the judiciary is fought off.
All that is happening is a very calculated effort by the NDC government to attack the Judiciary and shape it in a manner they desire”, he added.
