Kennedy Agyapong a former member of Parliament and flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has boasted that if he were the president of Ghana he would have fired the acting CEO of the Goldbod Sammy Gyamfi.
According to Kennedy Agyapong nepotism and favouritism are killing Ghana and he would not have waited for a second to sack Sammy Gyamfi because the evidence is clear.
Speaking at the Entrepreneurship and National Leadership event held at Central University on Thursday, May 15, 2025, Kennedy Agyapong stated, “Nepotism, favoritism is what is killing this country, and there is no doubt about that. Recently in the news, we heard about Nana Agradaa and Sammy Gyamfi.
If I were the president, I would have sacked Sammy Gyamfi right away. I would not have waited for even a second, because the evidence was clear. I didn’t need to go and conduct any investigation. This will serve as a deterrent,” he stated.
He added, “Young men and women complete their university education and go on ahead with their national service. Even with that one, you will have to pay to get a good company. If you didn’t know any politician, you could not do your national service at a proper place.
“All these are impeding progress, and because of nepotism, we end up employing square pegs in round holes. So, this is a canker, we need to solve or resolve,” he stated.
His comments comes on the heels of Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Presidential Spokesperson has stated the acting Goldbod CEO Sammy Gyamfi has been cautioned, and no further action will be taken on the Agradaa dollar gift.
The Presidency indicated that no further action will be taken against Sammy Gyamfi following his public apology over a controversial incident.
According to him, President Mahama has decided to accept Sammy Gyamfi’s public apology and bring the matter to a close with a stern warning.
Meanwhile, the minority in parliament has rejected President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to take no further action against Sammy Gyamfi.
They have since officially petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to investigate allegations that Sammy Gyamfi over his dollar gift to Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.
According to the minority, the transaction between Sammy Gyamfi and Agradaa raises serious ethical and legal concerns given Sammy Gyamfi’s dual role as a senior NDC official and as acting Managing Director of the Goldbod.
CHRAJ, OSP, and IGP have acknowledged receipt of the petition and indicated that preliminary evaluations are underway.
