Edudzi Tameklo, the Director of Legal Services of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned the former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Godfred Yeboah Dame after he made a call for good men to rise for the right things in Ghana.
Godfred Yeboah Dame in an interview has stated it is about time good men of this country stood up for what is right.
The former AG asserted that representing suspended Chief Justice Torkornoo is not a sign of NPP alignment.
According to Godfred Dame, his action is in line with his long-standing commitment to defending the Judiciary a stance he says has defined his career from the beginning.
Speaking on JOY FM, Godfred Dame stated, “It is about time that good men in this country speak for what is righteous and what is right. If there is any Attorney-General who, right from his appointment, has stood up for the judiciary and spoken against attacks on it, it is myself.
It is not right and must be corrected. It is about time that proper things are stood for in this country. We cannot let people mislead the public and let it go uncorrected.”
He added, “It is about time that the proper things are stood for in this country and we cannot let people mislead the public and go uncorrected. I am making the point the action I have taken is consistent with all actions I have taken right from the first day I was appointed Attorney General.
What I am doing now is very much in tune and consistent with all I have stood for all my life. Indeed it is not about Justice Torkonoo at all it is about ensuring that this unwarranted attack on the judiciary is fought off.
All that is happening is a very calculated effort by the NDC government to attack the Judiciary and shape it in a manner they desire”, he added.
Reacting to a comment made by Godfred Dame, Edudzi Tamakloe noted that should good men rise the former Attorney General will lose his law license.
Edudzi Tamakloe is quoted to have said, “If good men rise, you will lose your license”.
Meanwhile, Godfred Yeboah Dame has been dragged to the General Legal Council for unprofessional conduct.
Reports suggest the Godfred Dame has been dragged to the General Legal Council by a private citizen, Daniel Kwame Ofosu-Appiah regarding his claim unprofessionally in the Republic v. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson & Anor. Case.
The private citizen alleged that Godfred Dame violated the principles of the legal profession when he was allegedly caught on a leaked tape attempting to coerce Richard Jakpa, the 3rd accused in the case, to give evidence in a certain manner.
It will be recalled that Godfred Dame was overheard on a leaked video telling a suspect in the Ambulance purchase case, Richard Jakpa, to acquire excuse duty to enable him to absent himself from court.
Dame also told Mr Jakpa to lie against Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, together with whom he (Jakpa) had been accused of causing financial loss to the state.
Godwin Edudzi Tameklo further urged Dame to confess his sins to a Roman Father and ask for forgiveness.
