According to Eugene Boakye Antwi, he has nothing personal against Akufo-Addo as he supported him to become president.

He asserted that despite his disagreement with Akufo-Addo he still rates him as a successful president.

Eugene Boakye Antwi further acknowledged there were certain decisions he was expecting Akufo-Addo to take or make but he failed to do.

Speaking during a panel discussion on Peace FM, the former lawmaker stated, “I had my disagreement with the president because he did not want to reshuffle his ministers. That was the disagreement and I still stand by it, and I think the Oquaye report has commented about this.

I have nothing personal against him. That was my disagreement with my president as an MP, apart from that there’s nothing personal”.

He added, “I supported him to be president, but when he took office there were certain decisions I was expecting him to take or make which he failed to do. Because of that I disagreed with him and I made it known”.

Because of that, the good that President Akufo-Addo did I should not say it, is that what Ghanaians are telling me? He was successful as a president but if you were to ask him if he would have done something differently upon hindsight, he would have responded yes, that is what makes him human”.

Meanwhile, Dr Bawumia has confessed the erstwhile Akufo-Addo government’s sins that led to the 2024 election defeat which many Ghanaians see as him throwing his former boss under the bus.

He also emphasised that the Akufo-Addo government’s lack of reshuffling of ministerial portfolios also caused the NPP’s defeat.

According to Dr Bawumia, hardship in the country, arrogance displayed by his government, e-levy, the debt restructuring program and the lack of reshuffling of ministerial portfolios caused the NPP’s defeat.

Speaking to members of the party in Takoradi on April 26, as part of the NPP’s Thank You tour in the Western Region, Dr Bawumia stated, “The studies we have done so far, the big issues that people complained about were; the cost of living, there was hardship, arrogance of power and the debt restructuring program. The party suggested we reshuffle our ministerial portfolios.

For eight years we never listened. The party advised against the implementation of the e-levy, and the debt restructuring program. And yet we never listened,” Dr Bawumia lamented.
