Manasseh Azure Awuni an award-winning investigative journalist has questioned how any human with a conscience will see the alleged CCTV footage of Thaddeus Sory in a restaurant and still attack his credibility.
The viral video claimed to be a meeting between Thaddeus Sory, a legal representative for one of the petitioners and one Justice in the Chief Justice probe.
In the alleged video claiming the lawyer and the Justice were discussing the Chief Justice case, Thaddeus Sory was seated with Kotei Dzani, a former Council of State member, talking and eating together at a table.
Unaware of the presence of one of the judges in the petition until his attention was drawn to it.
Justice Asiedu also passed without even noticing the presence of Thaddeus Sory in the restaurant until Justice Kulendi alerted him.
After a short conversation, they each continued with their separate business with no such meeting to discuss the petition taking place.
The video clearly shows the committee chair Justice Pwamang was not at the restaurant as claimed by the petitioner.
Manasseh reacting to the video on X wrote, “The first shock that registered in my mind was how any human with a living conscience would see that footage and still proceed to attack the credibility of Thaddeus Sory’s description of the allegation of an improper meeting as a “monstrous” lie”.
If these judges and a prominent lawyer, whose faces are known, wanted to hold a clandestine meeting to plot what the petitioner suggested, would they not have chosen to do so under the cover of darkness, in a secluded location? Would the dumbest of us on these streets have chosen a public restaurant in these times when the storm over the CJ’s removal is still raging?”, he questioned.
Alfred Ababio Kumi in his petition alleged that a meeting between two committee members Justices Gabriel Pwamang and Samuel Adibu-Asiedu and Thaddeus Sory, counsel for one of the petitioners in the matter.
According to him, the meeting occurred on 15 May at Santoku Restaurant with Supreme Court Justice, Yonni Kulendi also in attendance.
Mr. Kumi claimed the individuals were reportedly overheard discussing matters relating to the petition.
Meanwhile, Alfred Ababbio Kumi a known NPP member who petitioned President John Mahama to dissolve the committee probing the removal of the chief justice has been arrested by the National Security.
A post by Member of Parliament Ekow Assafuah stated, “About 3 hours ago, Alfred Ababio Kumi popularly known as Adenta Kumi was picked up at his residence by 8 armed men believed to be officers of the National Intelligence Bureau. 6 of the AK-47-wielding men were in masks.
These rambo-style actions by government continue to raise concerns that bother on free speech and good governance”.
Kumi’s mother Nana Ama Owusu confirmed, “We saw about eight armed operatives arrived at the residence while he was taking his bath. They said they only wanted to speak with him, but ended up taking him away.
The officers broke into the building, damaging doors before gaining access”, she narrated.

It can sometimes be challenging to engage in public discourse these days because the starting point is so low. I finally watched the CCTV footage last night (which was Ghana’s early hours of the morning). The first shock that registered in my mind was how any human with a living…
