Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reacted to allegations made by the former former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu Boahene.
Kwabena Adu-Boahene the embattled former Director of the National Signals Bureau (NSB) fingered an opposition political party for receiving GHS 8.3 million of alleged money he is accused of stealing.
According to Adu Boahene’s letter, an opposition party received GHS 8.3 million to support election results collation.
The convenor of the Fix The Country Movement, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, in a post on Facebook, posed a question to the NDC, demanding the party’s reaction to the allegations.
Oliver Vormawor stated, “Simple question for the NDC to answer by tomorrow morning at 6 am: Did you receive any equipment from National Security ahead of the 2024 elections? Yes or No?”
Sammy Gyamfi responding to Oliver Vormawor questioned how it would even be possible for the Kan Dapaah-led National Security Ministry or Secretariat of the NPP government to be so foolish as to buy equipment for the opposition NDC to oust their own government.
According to Sammy Gyamfi, it does not make sense to suggest that the erstwhile New Patriotic Party (NPP) government would resource the NDC to win an election.
Sammy Gyamfi under Vormawor’s post on Facebook quizzed, “How is that even possible, my brother? How could the Kan Dapaah-led National Security Ministry or Secretariat of the NPP government be so foolish as to buy equipment for the opposition NDC to oust their own government?”.
Meanwhile, Adu Boahene in his letter from EOCO custody stated, “I give you my highest assurances that Angela [wife] and I would never steal public funds, as is being deliberately and wickedly portrayed by the Attorney-General. In any case, how does one steal public funds in the manner being described by the Attorney-General without being flagged by the Auditor-General?
“Further, I give you my highest assurances that Angela [wife] and I would never take what does not belong to us, even if privately arranged. We are full of content with the modest blessings God has given us,” he wrote.
According to Adu Boahene, part of the 49 million cedis was spent to fund the 2020 and 2024 elections.
He alleged that a whopping 500000 dollars were used to purchase “communications equipment” for an opposition party, and also quoted GHC 7,285,000 was used for what he referred to as “elections special operations” for the 2020 general elections which covered the cost of logistics and payment of allowances.
Additionally, GHC 6,764,000 was paid for logistics and allowances for the 2024 December elections.
These monies were aimed to ensure the “stability of the nation and for peaceful polling”, Adu-Boahene stressed in his letter.
