Felix Gyamfi, the NSA’s Director-General asserted that the cleanup exercise is part of ongoing efforts to improve transparency and eliminate fraudsters within the scheme.

According to Felix Gyamfi, data of service personnel will now be shared with the Controller and Accountant General’s Department for cross-verification to prevent duplication and illegal entries.

Felix Gyamfi warned, “If you’re already on another payroll whether as a police officer, immigration officer, or army officer — and you’re doing national service just to meet the requirement, do not submit your allowance form this month”.

“We are now working closely with the NIB and other security agencies, and anyone who attempts to defraud the system will be arrested”, he added.

It will be recalled that 81,885 suspected ghost names were uncovered on the payroll of the NSS following a head count of active National Service personnel at the behest of the Minister for Finance as a prerequisite for the clearance of allowance arrears dating back to August 2024.

The information gathered reveals at least more individuals have been named as persons of interest in the NSS ghost name scandal.

Honourable Mustapha Ussif, Akufo-Addo’s first NSS CEO, Henry Nana Boakye a board member of the NSS, Gifty Oware, Kwaku Ohene Djan, Osei Assibey Antwi are among the 5 fingered in the NSS ghost scandal.

Meanwhile, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic AyineDr Dominic Ayine has announced that the suspects involved in the NSS ghost names scandal will be charged next week.

Dr Ayine added, “The investigations into the National Service ghost names scandal have progressed well. And we will be filing charges against some of the persons involved from the first week in May, I mean, a few days’ time.”
