Kwesi Pratt Jnr, the veteran journalist and Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper has vented his anger at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He asserted that both parties in office claim there is no dumsor but Ghanaians do not care about that and just want the problem fixed.

According to Kwesi Pratt, the erratic power problem must be fixed with both parties and put an end to the unnecessary useless politicking with power outages.

He further revealed that his house nearly got burnt because of the erratic power crisis commonly known as dumsor.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana, Kwesi Pratt stated, “You guys should just stop wasting our time, these semantic battles sometimes who said this and how did you say it wrong so useless as far as I’m concerned.  About one year before the NPP left power this country was suffering serious power outages it has continued into the fifth month of the National Democratic Congress that is the situation.

Sometimes I wonder these guys look us in the face and say it is not dumsor, do we care whether it is dumsor or u call it by another name the point is that we are suffering from power outages, that is the fact”.

He added, “During your time (NPP) you had the effrontery to look us in the eye and tell us that there was no dumsor in Ghana what we had was dumsiesie, there were power outages.

Yesterday I heard some officials of the ECG telling us that we don’t have dumsor is it not exactly what the NPP was telling us, do we care what you call it, we don’t”.

Kwesi Pratt added, “Look, there are nursing mothers with infant babies who need special care and the baby’s health suffers when there’s no light. Think about them and the many poor people who buy food and stock them in their freezers and fridges, so that they can cope with this increasing cost of food and so on. Think about babies in incubators, think about all those scenarios and fix the problem and stop the unnecessary useless politicking with power outages”.

“Maybe I should not be talking about my own personal experiences. My house nearly got burnt as a result of these power outages two to three weeks ago and if I hadn’t been in the house at the time. So stop this blame game,” he recounted.

Meanwhile, John Jinapor, urged Ghanaians not to panic in terms of any potential power crisis in the country.

Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News John Jinapor clarified the power situation stating that the government has procured 450,000 barrels of light crude oil arriving this weekend.

He stated, “On fuel stock, we did indicate to them that we have 2.6 days of fuel. But I also did say that fortunately, the Ministry of Finance has supported us—we’ve procured 450,000 barrels of light crude oil arriving this weekend.”

“So, it is true that we have 2.6 days of stock, the good news is that we have 450,000 barrels coming in, so we shouldn’t panic. We will be okay. No—[there is no looming power crisis],” he assured.
