The Finance Ministry’s reaction follows some netizens on X who shockingly alleged that the Ministry of Finance paid Kalyjay GHC300k to organise a pre-budget workshop on X.

It will be recalled ahead of the 2025 Budget Presentation on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, the Finance Minister sought the input of some Ghanaian youths on an X space.

On Sunday, March 9, 2025, he hosted a live discussion on X Spaces, encouraging Ghanaians to share their views and expectations in anticipation of the budget as he sought to expand the conversation.

However, an alleged memo from the Finance Ministry shared by the netizens on X read, “In line with our commitment to fostering inclusive and participatory governance, the Ministry of Finance intends to organize a Pre-Budget Workshop on X (formerly Twitter) to solicit the opinions and input of the youth in the development of the 2025 Budget.

This initiative is aimed at ensuring that the voices of young citizens are adequately represented in our financial planning and policy formulation.

To facilitate the effective organization of this event, we kindly request the release of funds totalling GHC 300,000”.

The memo further gave a breakdown of how the GHC 300,000 was going to be used.

In a series of X post the netizens on X alleged saying, “ The Finance Minister spent three hundred thousand Ghana cedis ( GHC300,000 ) for the 2025 Budget Twitter space held on Kalyjay’s account. What is stopping the Finance Minister from paying George and his colleagues?”.

Another stated, “ Budget reading on kalyjay’s twitter space  k3k3 GHS 300,000.00. I mean 3 bill I old Ghana currency o. Herh kaly really cash out but Dr. Anagli is still wailing 😫😫 Hon. Ato Forson why 🤦‍♀️”.

Additionally, one netizen accused Kalyjay of being a fraud, “ The reason why this fraud can never compare himself with @kwadwosheldon One is a free spirit, free thinker and a free voice,  the other one is a slave and a puppet to his slave masters. Pathetic 😏”.
