He further admitted that although the NPP had made significant strides in governance, it had also made notable mistakes.

According to Dr Bawumia, the NPP has taken stock of its errors and is committed to doing better if given another mandate.

Speaking at an engagement in London, Dr Bawumia, “The NPP did a lot of work, there’s no doubt about that, but we did not get everything right. We got quite a few things wrong, and I think that, on my own behalf, on behalf of the party and the government.

I apologise to all of you for us not getting the things right that we should have gotten.”

“I believe that if by the grace of God, we have another opportunity I believe that we will get many things right because we have learnt the lessons of where we are going,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has revealed the NPP plans to elect its 2028 presidential candidate lastest by January next year.

According to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP elected its 2024 presidential candidate in November which gave John Mahama an advantage as he was already the NDC presidential candidate and had already been touring the country.

Dr Bawumia asserted that the NPP did not have time for reconciliation after their internal elections as there was a lot of fallout from many constituencies.

Dr Bawumia stated, “We elected our presidential candidate a bit late in the day. We elected our presidential candidate in November by that time Mahama who had been elected by the NDC much earlier had already toured the country, giving him an advantage and we had spent three years on an internal election that divided the party.

There was no time for reconciliation, I had to hurry to get into the field to begin the campaign because Mahama was already ahead. Reconciling people at all levels of the constituency was difficult and we didn’t have enough time to do that.

There were a lot of problems in the constituency involving the elections”.

He added, “Now, we are working on a proposal that, by January at the latest, all elections from polling stations to flagbearers will be completed, so we have three years to prepare for the 2028 elections and we have enough time to also do reconciliation”.
