The Exim Bank writ of summons follows Wontumi’s interrogation by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

Wontumi’s lawyer and former Member of Parliament for Asante-Akim North revealed that amidst these developments, they received a writ of summons from Exim Bank earlier in the afternoon.

Speaking to the media he stated, “Nevertheless, we have also received this afternoon a writ of summons from Exim Bank, and we are going to respond to the pleadings tomorrow. I am very hopeful that we will be able to mount a defence to the writ”.

“When we are in court, we will indicate to the court that this is a civil matter, for which reason Exim Bank has issued a writ to us, which we are also responding to. So, this one of a supposed criminal investigation, I am sure and confident that we will be able to mount a defence,” Appiah-Kubi added.

Speaking on Neat FM, Alex Kwaku Tetteh detailed, “If you think I am lying call Paul Adom Otchere and call this man at the EXIM bank Agyin Sam I know for a record Wontumi collected 12 million dollars first and second trench of 8 million dollars they claim they did not give it to him.

Wontumi told them at a board meeting that they were even lucky that they called him and he came because he as a Regional Chairman why would he receive money and they call him? So they used the law to drag Wontumi to court”.

He further added, “I am stating clearly that anytime they need evidence of my claims I will give the public evidence”.

Meanwhile, Wontumi has been reportedly fell ill while being interrogated by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in Accra.

I was the one who provided the location to Chairman Wontumi’s house for his arrest… This is Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign manager.

Sadly these people want to lead our party? You reported a whole regional chairman of the party you’re seeking to lead? Look at how he’s being… pic.twitter.com/NPu9xh2msH
