Osman Ayariga, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority has stated the former vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is a con artist.
According to Osman Ayariga, Dr Bawumia is attempting to fool the NPP and Ghanaians that he is a changed man.
Speaking on GHONE TV, Osman Ayariga stated, “Bawumia’s apology is very dishonest. It’s all theatrics and dishonesty the hallmarks of someone trying to be a con artist.”
“He’s not apologizing because he regrets what happened. He’s doing this to create a narrative that he’s a changed man but the truth is, he’s trying to deceive the NPP and Ghanaians,” Ayariga stressed.
He further quizzed, “Where was this remorse when the economy was sinking? Where was this humility when the cedi was crashing and inflation was hitting the roof?”
“So if I say he’s being a con artist, he’s being a con artist because he’s trying to deceive the NPP, deceive Ghanaians that he’s a changed man now. And for that matter, he’s apologized to Ghana. Bawumia’s apology is a very dishonest apology.”
“I believe the people of Ghana including those in the NPP are wide awake. They won’t fall for this staged humility. What we are seeing is not transformation, but desperation,” he argued.
His comments come following the former vice president and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has finally apologised to Ghanaians for the shortcomings of the NPP-led administration.
Dr Bawumia noted that the NPP did a lot of work and there was no doubt about that.
He further admitted that although the NPP had made significant strides in governance, it had also made notable mistakes.
Speaking at an engagement in London, Dr Bawumia, “The NPP did a lot of work, there’s no doubt about that, but we did not get everything right. We got quite a few things wrong, and I think that, on my own behalf, on behalf of the party and the government.
I apologise to all of you for us not getting the things right that we should have gotten.”
“I believe that if by the grace of God, we have another opportunity I believe that we will get many things right because we have learnt the lessons of where we are going,” he added.
