Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central has deleted a post he made against the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine on his Facebook page on Thursday, May 1, 2025.
According to A Plus, his allegation of bribery and corruption against the Attorney General is that he allegedly sought an amount of GH¢500,000 to bribe the Appointment Committee of Parliament.
A Plus blasted Dr Dominic Ayine, for being an old fool and he is going to reset his brain.
In a post on Facebook, he wrote, “No! That is not true. My information is that you went to beg for 500 thousand cedis, claiming you were going to use it to bribe the Appointment Committee of Parliament. And for your information, you’re not the only one. If you are an old… I’ll reset your brain…man!”
A Plus has since deleted the post but has not issued any formal apology or retraction.
His comment was made on the back of Dr Dominic Ayine’s challenging A Plus if he had any evidence of corruption or thievery against him, he should call a press conference and present.
The Attorney General asserted that he was not a member of the Finance Committee of Parliament, let alone be in the position to influence its composition as the member of parliament claimed.
Speaking at a media briefing on 30 April 2025, Dr Dominic Ayine stated, “I was not a member of the Finance Committee of Parliament, let alone be in the position to influence its composition,” he told journalists, adding that he has parliamentary documents to back his claims.
“As your Attorney General, I have sufficient reserves of integrity. I have never stolen in my life or taken a bribe in public office,” he declared. “The President would not have appointed me if there were questions about my personal integrity.”
“If A Plus has any evidence of corruption or thievery against me, I am challenging him today to call a press conference and present it.”
“Let him be warned. In my hometown, we don’t fear mud being thrown. We walk into the mud to deal with the person doing the mudslinging—and I’m ready to walk into the mud with A Plus.”
He further added, “A Plus warned me in his post not to do anything silly and threatened to come after me if I did. That is laughable.”
He added, “The threat is laughable because I have nothing to hide. I’m reliably informed that his basis for accusing me of corruption and theft is that I received campaign contributions from a businessman. He also claims to know the people who donated pickups for my campaign.”
Dr Ayine continued, “If receiving donations for your campaign or getting a pickup for campaign purposes is considered theft or corruption, then there are 276 thieves in Parliament, including the person making the allegation.”
Meanwhile, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice has revealed he has considered filing a defamation suit against the member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus.
According to the Attorney, although he has considered filing a defamation suit against A Plus he would rather spend time doing the work given to him by President Mahama.
Dr Dominic Ayine is quoted by GHONE to have said, “ I’ve considered filing a defamation suit against A-Plus but I would rather spend my time doing the work President John Mahama has appointed me to do”.
