Kevin Taylor, a US-based vlogger has boldly stated the minority leader In parliament Alexander Afenyo Markin should be in an interrogation room answering for his actions after he slapped a police officer.
In the viral video, Afenyo Markin and some other protestors were captured trying to break through a police barricade when the minority leader hit the police and called him a fool for preventing them from breaking through the barricade.
According to reports, tempers flared when Afenyo Markin was nearly denied entry into the Fore Court of the Parliament House for the presentation of a second petition to the Speaker.
Alexander Afenyo Markin in a statement issued on May 5, 2025, narrated the incident and claimed that Constable Forson struck him forcefully on the chest near his heart as he approached the barricade to present a petition.
He stated, “I was protesting the conduct of a Constable, who, without provocation, deliberately struck the left side of my chest dazing me and leaving me short of breath”.
“What makes this assault particularly egregious is that the officer was being openly reprimanded by his superiors and fellow officers at the time, yet he defiantly responded that he didn’t care who I was,” he added.
“We must not be distracted from the purpose of the demonstration. We marched to defend the Constitution and the independence of the judiciary—principles that must be protected at all costs,” he affirmed.
Reacting to Afenyo Markin’s statement, Kevin Taylor wrote, “Alexander Afenyo-Markin should not be on television or Facebook. He should be in an interrogation room answering for his actions. Ghana does not need another elite bully pretending to be a martyr. Ghana needs justice. Swift. Unapologetic. And real.
et’s cut through the nonsense. @AfenyoMarkin was caught on video striking a police officer during a protest he and his cronies staged to protect a corrupt judiciary they helped capture. That is the only fact that matters. Everything else in his carefully scripted sob story is a calculated distraction — a smokescreen designed to cover up a moment of raw political violence.
His press release is not a statement. It is a blatant insult to the intelligence of the Ghanaian people. The man who slapped a police officer in broad daylight now wants us to believe he was the one assaulted? Spare us. His attempt to flip the script is not just dishonest — it is dangerous”, Kevin Taylor stated.
He added, “Let’s call this what it is — abuse of power. If an ordinary citizen had dared to lay a hand on a police officer, they’d be rotting in a cell by now. But because Afenyo has political status, he thinks he can rewrite reality, flip the footage, and walk away with a press release. Not this time. Ghanaians have seen the video. Ghanaians saw him lose control. He struck the officer. Period.
Now he’s pointing fingers, naming the officer, accusing the police of hiding evidence, and spinning a bizarre tale about near-collapse and a water break. This isn’t leadership. This is a tantrum dressed in formal language. A last-ditch propaganda move by a man who thought he was untouchable until a camera caught him in action”.
