Kennedy Agyapong a former member of Parliament and flagbearer aspirant has warned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that a kingdom divided cannot stand.
According to Kennedy Agyapong, the NPP can only win in the 2028 elections if they apologise and forgive each other.
Kennedy Agyapong during the ongoing NPP’s Thank You Tour called on the executives to grant amnesty to Alan Kyerematen, Paul Afoko and other suspended members.
According to Kennedy Agyapong, everybody who has been suspended by the party must be recalled for the party to unite.
Speaking at the Takoradi Technical University Auditorium during the NPP’s Thank You tour, Kennedy Agyapong stated, “If we ever stand a chance to unite, I charge the national executives to grant amnesty to Afoko, Alan and everybody who has been suspended by the party. Let’s recall them to the party and unite”
“I will stand on behalf of the NPP party to apologize to everybody NPP has offended.
“What I am talking about is not about ego. It is about peace. It should not be difficult for any of us here to admit we have wronged a lot of our party people, hence their decision not to vote for us”, he added.
However, Kennedy Agyapong has pulled out of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Thank You Tour following the stabbing of a student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
According to Kennedy Agyapong, he joined Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for the sake of unity but all indication shows he is not wanted.
Kennedy Agyapong speaking to the media stated, “For unity’s sake, I felt it was important to join Dr Bawumia on his ‘Thank You’ tour. But from all indications, it’s very clear I’m not wanted.
“Because of yesterday’s events, myself and my team want to pull out because lives are threatened. I don’t think I can adequately protect my team.”
“The reason I am withdrawing is mainly to protect my people. But we will regroup, and at the appropriate time, we will also do what we have to do to help the party and enhance my chances.”
“I have seen that some groups from Dr. Bawumia’s camp want me to speak, so they twist things. I want to plead with the NPP fraternity to desist from such one-sided politics—it will not help us”, he cautioned.
