In a viral video shared on X, the students dressed in their uniform were captured brandishing knives, pairs of scissors, and others.

The video has drawn widespread outrage particularly because of the ongoing case of the unfortunate incident involving SDA student, Suzzy Pinamang, who is still recovering from the tragedy of another student bringing a weapon to school.

The Assistant Administrator of the school, Stephen Yaw Asare speaking to CITI NEWS revealed that investigations are underway to disclose all students who featured in the video.

Stephen Yaw Asare stated, “We assembled the students and were able to unravel some of the students. We took them to the principal’s office to interrogate them further. After the interrogation, we realised they were doing something just for fun, but unfortunately, looking at the nature of the video, we have to take action,” he said.

Akwasi Addo also noted that authorities conduct routine inspections but students usually found a way to outwit them.

He further called on parents to conduct searches on their wards before they report on school.

Meanwhile, in a related story, a 16-year-old form two student of Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School (OKESS) has been arrested for possessing a locally manufactured firearm without lawful authority.

According to reports the arrest comes following a routine dormitory search by school authorities on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

During the search, the school authorities discovered the locally manufactured firearm.

The student was later handed to the Tafo Pankrono Divisional Police Command for further investigation.

Reports suggest that the SHS student during interrogation alleged that the firearm belonged to his stepfather, Mr Daniel Owusu Baafi who had also been picked up by the police.

Head of Public Affairs for the Ashanti Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo revealed this in a statement on Sunday, May 18.

Both the SHS student and stepfather have been granted police enquiry bail and are expected to report to authorities on Monday, May 19, 2025, for additional investigations.
