A video has surfaced of illegal miners commonly known as galamseyers installing a new Changfan machine.
According to the galamseyers they are replacing the machine that was earlier burnt by soldiers who invaded the site to stop their activities.
They added that no matter what the soldiers do, they will continue their galamsey operations.
One Galamseyer was heard saying, “The soldiers have destroyed our machine, we have gone to replace it with new ones, whatever they do galamsey we will do it. The Changfan they destroyed two”.
Meanwhile, an Accra High Court has dismissed a motion filed by the Ghana Police Service seeking to stop the anti-galamsey demonstration being organized by Okatakyie Afrifa.
The ruling follows a request by Assistant State Attorney David Bachem, acting on the Attorney General’s orders, to withdraw the motion. This paves the way for the highly anticipated anti-galamsey protest on April 28.
This ruling clears the way for the protest to take place as scheduled on April 28. The organizers praised the decision, highlighting it as a testament to the rule of law and the strength of the country’s constitution.
Speaking after the court hearing, Okatakyie Afrifa stated, “We are in a nation rule of law, and rule of laws shall prevail every time”.
Only the court could have prevented us from demonstrating, and when we came the court dismissed the issue, they stated the Police motion had been struck out.
We are telling everyone on Monday at 2 pm, it is not about NPP or NDC, me being here I am an NPP member but the record shows me that Appiah Kubi took guns and arrested some Chinese it tells you how patriotic we are when it comes to the fight against galamsey”.
