Host of Metro TV’s ‘Good Evening Ghana’ Paul Adom Otchere has shared a frightening experienced he went through at the Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi over the weekend.
The experience which has both surprised and shaken him involves one Presidential Staffer identified as Nana Poku who threatened his life and that of his family.
In an episode of the popular ‘Good Evening Ghana’, Paul Adom Otchere took time to chronicle his experience.
“Last Saturday I had a very unpleasant experience. Typically I shouldn’t be sharing this but because it has to do with Good Evening Ghana I will share this. This is the Kumasi Int’l Airport, Prempeh I Int’l Airport and I had happened to be there last Saturday. I went for a funeral in the Brong Ahafo area and we were coming back through Kumasi and I go there to get a flight on AWA. As I got to the airport people started coming round and we were talking,” he narrated.
Amongst the people he engaged in a conversation with were a senior Member of Parliament (MP) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and an important National Democratic Congress (NDC) appointee.
Their conversation which was naturally politics turned sour by the sudden appearance of Nana Poku, a name Paul Adom Otchere had never heard of prior to their first encounter.
“We were talking and then a man whom I don’t know walks in but now I have been told who he is. He came and shook hands with the MP and the NDC appointee. He then pointed at me saying as for this guy we should beat him, and I said hey who is this and I asked who are you and who are going to beat and for what?” Paul asked.
Nana Poku was quick to retort, stating, “Who do you think you are and if this is Nigeria do you think NDC will be in power and you can be on TV? You’re a foolish boy. We will beat you, we will beat your children. That your mother at Makola I will go and slap her,” he said in reference to Paul.
Paul who was taken aback by the whole situation was told by all present to ignore Nana Poku. “The MP tried to pull him away and he further threatened that if we were in Nigeria they would’ve killed me.”
“I didn’t know him then but after the encounter, our investigations show he is called Nana Poku and he’s a presidential staffer,” Paul revealed his identity.
The journalist expressed surprise over Nana Poku’s actions saying, “I don’t know what has become of these people. How does power get into their heads?”
Currently Paul who considers this as a major threat to the his safety and that of his family has reported the matter to the Ghana Police Service.
