A video has surfaced of a trained teacher from Offinso College of Education abandoning his post after he was posted to a village school in Kwahu in the Eastern Region.
According to reports the trainee teacher was posted to the school for a one-year national service.
The teacher noted that the entire school operated from a dilapidated two-classroom structure.
He further vented his anger at Mike for not changing his posting and added that he was coming back to get posted to a different school.
The trainee teacher on a phone stated, “If you look at the place the class is only two, Mike should change things for me, Mike is f*cking, Akwasi I have told the madam not to endorse me, I am not going to do it, I am coming home, I will do it somewhere else”.
Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have expressed their opinion about the trainee teacher’s video and the dilapidated school buildings.
One X user wrote, “This one is lucky wai..Where my husband is teaching in the central region here has no lights and he is the only teacher teaching from KG to upper primary..he has been there for 2 to 3 years now..he has complained but still no response..”
“Me sef like Ano go do. Make I collect the same as someone working in Cocobod? God forbid”, another stated.
Another social media user blamed the Ghana Education Service for knowing about the situation of the school but refusing to address the situation saying, “Unfortunately GES has an office in the municipality and they know about this school. The nature of the room is a threat to the students and teachers. How will they learn when it’s raining? You can’t blame the guy as well, he has lived in the city all his life how does he cope now”.
Additionally, another added, “Conducive working environment is the building block for success, Ges have an idea about the situation at hand but they have neglected things and want to bring innocent people from the city to come and teach in this death trap while they stay in the air conditions”.
One more X user also wrote, “ Someone will say he has to sacrifice himself for his country 🤣….. just imagine how long this school has existed and tell me if indeed these politicians truly care about the country!”.
