Some supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have condemned the attempted arrest of Member of Parliament for Assin South Rev Ntim Fordjour.
According to the NPP supporters, it is a major disgrace for a member of parliament’s home to be raided and ransacked.
Speaking to the media one NPP supporter at the home of Ntim Fordjour stated, “They have just come and ransacked a whole member of parliament come on let’s grow small, what kind of life is that you we will rule Ghana 8 years four years is just around the corner.
You cannot be intimidating people like that what kind of like, he is a member of parliament if you have an issue with him you can invite him not bring people to disgrace him like this what is this, what country are we, are we, not Ghanaians”.
Justin Kodua Frimpong the General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has claimed the home of Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev John Ntim Fordjour has been stormed by the National Investigation Bureau.
According to Justin Kodua, NIB has stormed the home of Ntim Fordjour to arrest him.
In a Facebook post, Justin Kodua wrote, “N.I.B is currently at Hon. Ntim Firdjour’s residence to arrest him”.
Alexander Twum Barimah, the Deputy Director-General of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) had earlier warned Rev John Ntim Fordjour he would be arrested if continued with the path he is going on the allegations of drug trafficking.
According to Alexander Twum Barimah, NACOC has communicated through channels to get Ntim Fordjour to come to them, but he is claiming he has not been invited.
Speaking on Eyewitness News, Alexander Twum Barimah stated, “If he goes on the path he is going, he will leave us with no option but to go for him. Because you are refusing to come to us.
We have communicated through the channels to get you to come to us, but you said you have not been invited. He said on another platform that he is not going to appear even if we call him”, he added.
The Deputy Director-General of NACOC added, “This is not just a matter of NACOC, it is a matter of National Security, and the coordinator is coordinating all the security agencies in this country. So, if he is to be arrested, it will not be done by NACOC but by the appropriate agencies”.
Alexander Twum Barimah in an earlier interview with JOY NEWS called on the Ranking Member of the Defence Committee Rev. John Ntim Fordjour to cooperate with NACOC on his allegations of “suspicious flights.”
Speaking on JOY NEWS Alexander Twum Barimah stated, “I will advise my good friend and brother that he should cooperate with us if he really wants us to get to the root of this matter”.
“To apprehend or arrest any other person who is involved in his so-called suspicious act, he should cooperate with us, the security agencies, to make sure that we get the appropriate or required information and act on it,” he added.
The Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has also stated he has requested that the interrogation of the Ranking Member on the Defence Rev. John Ntim Fordjour be made public.
According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, by advocating for the public release of the interrogation he hopes to bring clarity and accountability to the continuing controversy surrounding the so-called “suspicious flights.”
Meanwhile, the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) in a statement released has denied allegations that two flights which landed at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) were involved in drug trafficking.
