A video has surfaced of the former vice president and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the former member of parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong linking up at the Rock City Hotel in Kwahu.
In the viral video shared, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was spotted in a conversation with Kennedy Agyapong.
Both are expected to contest the NPP 2028 presidential candidate election.
According to reports, the minority caucus in Parliament, along with prominent members of the NPP, including former President Nana Addo, Dr Bawumia, and Kennedy Agyapong, gathered at the Rock City Hotel for a meeting to discuss the party’s future and strategize for the 2028 elections.
The Global InfoAnalytics in a recent poll revealed Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is still the preferred candidate to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as its Presidential Candidate for the 2028 general elections.
According to the poll, Dr Bawumia commands 48% of the overall vote in the prospective 2028 NPP leadership race.
Dr Bawumia, who was the NPP’s Presidential Candidate for the 2024 elections, emerged as the clear front-runner should the party’s delegates select a flagbearer for the next election cycle.
His closest contender, Kennedy Agyapong, garners 25%, while Dr Osei Adutwum follows with 13%.
The remaining candidates collectively secure 14% of the votes. Among NPP supporters specifically, Dr Bawumia’s lead is even more pronounced, with 57% backing him, compared to 22% for Kennedy Agyapong and 11% for Dr Osei Adutwum.
These findings highlight Dr Bawumia’s strong influence within the party and suggest a continuity of support beyond the 2024 elections.
Meanwhile, on 25 March 2025, Ghanaians got a sneak peek at how fierce the race for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2028 flagbearer contest is going to be at the Adum fire site.
