Speaking in an interview on Wontumi Radio, Ama Daaku, “In the eight years of Akufo-Addo’s presidency, we never heard of any cocaine busts of this magnitude, but the same cannot be said about the NDC just three months into power. We were informed that the security services had seized cocaine, gold, and dollars concealed in a 20-footer container.

The following week, there was another interception of a cocaine-laden truck from Cape Coast en route to Takoradi. Then, just a few days ago, we were told about the interception of $350 million worth of cocaine from Takoradi heading to Accra,” she stated.

She further added, “So, within just three months of the NDC assuming power, there have already been three cocaine-related arrests. During the entire eight years of Akufo-Addo’s tenure, when did we ever hear of such consistent drug seizures?

Even if there were any arrests, they were rare and far between. But under the NDC, we’re witnessing an average of one cocaine bust every month”, she boldly emphasized.

Her comment comes after the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has intercepted $350m worth of cocaine shipment.

According to reports, the NIB seized approximately 3.3 tonnes of the illicit substance en route to Accra from the Western Region.

Test conducted by the NACOC and the Ghana Standards Authority established the consignment’s total weight of 3,319.68 kilograms, with pureness levels between 50% and 70%.

Meanwhile, member of parliament Rev John Ntim Fordjour in a press conference alleged that two suspicious flights AirMed Flight N823AM and Cavok Air Antonov An-12B recently landed at Kotoka International Airport from Gran Canaria, a location known for drug trafficking and money laundering. Intelligence suggests these flights carried suspected cocaine and cash.
