According to the irate Tema youths, the president must appoint a local from Tema as the mayor.

The Tema youths stormed the premises of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly to express their displeasure at the news they were hearing which suggested that Ebi Bright, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Tema Central in the 2024 election will be named as the Tema Mayor.

Speaking to the media, Dora Sappor, a concerned youth from Tema, rejected the idea of Ebi Bright’s appointment as Mayor of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly.

Dora Sappor stated, “We are here with a heavy heart to register our displeasure. We are hearing that Ebi Bright is to be made the Mayor of Tema, but that is not going to happen. She was not even part of the whole process, so why are they bringing her to be the mayor? This is something we will not understand.

This is the only demand of the youth of Tema East and the traditional leaders,” she added.

Some Ghanaians have reacted to the agitation saying, “ These could be the opposition party members, or my people from the other side or is a setup. U do not want @EbiBright as your Mayor but u want her as ur MP. If she is non-indigenous or not that’s not what u look out for. What she can do and do best to transform Tema”.

“Hw3 nkwasias3m seiii. You are here fooling and still unable to make anything of your lives. Is it not shameful that in your own land, you are tenants”, another stated.

One user also stated, “Tumi biaa nni mu…. Why didn’t she use that some so called powers to kill the erstwhile npp govt for how they looted this country and the hardship they put us in? Ebi Bright will be the mayor”.

Meanwhile, it will be recalled Ebi Bright, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Tema Central narrowly lost the Tema Central parliamentary seat after the EC re-collation exercise.

The Electoral Commission of Ghana declared the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Charles Forson the winner of the Tema Central constituency.

Charles Forson narrowly beats the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ebi Bright after the re-collation.

The EC official results showed that Charles Forson pulled 18,870 votes, defeating the NDC’s Ebi Bright who secured 18,815 votes, with the independent candidate Frederick Aniagyei securing 209 votes.
