According to Samuel Dubik Mahama, the investigative committee has been unfair to him and called the process a witch hunt.

The former ECG MD revealed that he was never contacted as part of the investigation of the committee.

Samuel Dubik Mahama further dismissed rumours that he had absconded from the country and gone into hiding.

Speaking on Asempa FM on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Samuel Dubik Mahama stated, “Since this container issue came up, I have received several calls from some staff members of ECG, inquiring why I have not come to defend myself. Today, I want to clarify, that since I resigned as the MD of ECG, I have not gone anywhere.

“There were reports that I had absconded from the country and gone into hiding. I can say for a fact that I have been in this country. The pain I feel now is what the committee has done to me”, he added.

He further revealed, “I was never contacted as part of the investigation of the committee. I didn’t receive any letter from any committee.

“If the committee had contacted me or spoken to me, I would have given out all the information I have because I only came in to serve Ghana. I worked for two years and four months. My records are there. The company hasn’t seen this kind of growth within this period,” he stated.

His comments come after National Security arrested twelve Chinese and a Ghanaian in connection to the ECG missing containers.

The information gathered suggests the arrested person is linked to two aluminium smelting companies located in Shai Hills.

Cables, trusted to be part of the missing load, were traced to an aluminium smelter owned by the Chinese, located opposite the Shai Hills Game Reserve.

According to reports the cables were being melted into aluminium bars for export.

National security is also said to be on a manhunt for another Chinese on the run.

John Jinapor the energy minister has vowed to hold those responsible for the disappearance of over 1,347 containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) accountable.

Meanwhile, a truck carrying suspected missing ECG cables has been impounded in Gomoa Awombrew.

According to the MP for Gomoa Central Kwame Asare-Obeng (A Plus), the truck was intercepted in his constituency.
