There would be cheaper data bundles for 5 National holidays – Sam George announce

Sam George the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations has said Ghanaians would enjoy free cheaper data bundles for 5 national holidays.

According to Sam George, national holidays such as Independence Day, May Day, Republic Day, Founder’s Day and Farmers Day MTN, Telecel and Airtel/Tigo would give Ghanaians special data bundles.

The sector minister made this known on TV3 New Day.

“In the interim, I have agreed with all three network operators to have unique data bundle packages for all subscribers on five national holidays – Independence Day, May Day, Republic Day, Founder’s Day and Farmers Day,” Sam George stated.

It will be recalled during Ghana’s 68th Independence Day ‘Special Independence Day Bundle’ were offered to Ghanaians.

Sam George in a post on X stated, “All three telecom companies – MTN Ghana, Telecel Ghana and AT Ghana – have agreed to offer a GHS10 bundle which would offer 6GB of data instead of the usual 1GB regular offering or 3GB offerings on holidays for the same price”.

The Minister indicated that this historic move forms part of the Ministry’s commitment to pave way for a new era in digitalization for Ghana, as it gears up to commence deliberations on substantial initiatives to bring this ambition into fruition for the benefit of all Ghanaians.

“This highlights our commitment as a government to build the enablers for a truly digitalized Ghana that offers the vast opportunity of the interconnected world to Ghanaians right in the comfort of their homes. Tomorrow, the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations would outline short, medium and long term plans towards a sustained reduction in data prices In service to God and Country. 🦁🇬🇭.” he wrote.

Sam George during the interview also revealed he cannot set prices for data.

According to Sam George, he can only use policies will be used to ensure affordable data for Ghanaians.

Speaking in an interview on New Day, Sam George stated, “I can’t set prices for data, I will use policies to ensure affordable data”.
