A former presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko has advised the party to pull the brakes on its ongoing ‘Thank You Tour’.
According to him, should his warning go without immediate action, the ‘Thank You Tour’ which seeks to reunite the party will only end up breaking it apart the more.
“The ongoing Thank You Tour, envisioned as a beacon of hope and a rallying point to reignite the spirit of our faithful and supporters, is unfortunately veering off course. What was intended to restore our party’s shine and reconnect us with the grassroots is instead unraveling into bouts of discord, blame-shifting, and internal strife,” he wrote.
He indicated that some undesirable events happening on the tour possess a significant threat to the party’s future.
“This regrettable turn of events threatens to inflict serious collateral damage on the very fabric of our party,” adding that the developments are “steadily eroding the goodwill and trust we have worked so hard to cultivate among the Ghanaian people.”
In an immediate call to action, he added, “In light of these unfortunate developments, I am earnestly calling on the leadership of our party to act swiftly and decisively. It is time to apply the brakes and reassess the direction of the Thank You Tour. We must pull back from what increasingly looks like an imminent collision course and chart a path that upholds the unity, dignity, and forward-looking spirit of our tradition.”
The politician indicated that it is only through this re-assessment that the Thank You Tour’s mission will be accomplished and be done in a many in which the NPP’s proud legacy will be upheld.
Presidential aspirant of the NPP, Kennedy Agyapong had a war of words with the party’s Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC) which turned distasteful in the ongoing Thank You Tour which had reached Berekum in the Bono Region.
In his speech, Abronye expressed doubts about the sincerity of individuals pushing for unity within the party, accusing them of previously fostering division.
He highlighted how such actions benefited the NDC during the 2024 election campaign.
Abronye also dismissed Mr. Agyapong’s proposal for pardoning suspended or departed party members, emphasizing discipline over amnesty.
Unhappy with Abronye’s stance, Mr. Agyapong, visibly angered, took the microphone to counter.
Without directly naming anyone, he warned that he wouldn’t be intimidated. He criticized certain individuals for acting as though they owned the party despite minimal financial contributions and reliance on begging.
It took some members in the auditorium to take the microphone and show Kennedy Agyapong to his seat although he resisted their attempts.
