The information gathered reveals the UK-based student was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos on April 3, 2025.

Osei Parker after interrogation alleged he was a Computer Science student at the University of East London.

In a statement on April 6 by the Director of Media and Advocacy for the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi revealed that 36 parcels of the illicit substance hidden inside a large travel bag was uncovered.

The statement read, “NDLEA officers of the MMIA Strategic Command on Thursday, April 3, intercepted a 20-year-old Ghanaian-British man, Parker Darren Hazekia Osei, with 36 parcels of loud, a strong strain of cannabis, weighing 19.40kg, packed in a giant travelling bag.

The suspect, who claims to be a student of Computer Science at the University of East London, UK, was arrested during the inward clearance of passengers on an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Bangkok, Thailand, at the E-Arrival Hall of the Lagos airport.

In his statement, the suspect said he lives with his parents in the UK but left London about a week ago for Bangkok, where he picked up the consignment to deliver in Nigeria,” saharareporters.com quoted him as saying”, the statement added.

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have shared their opinion about the news according to them the busted man in not Ghanaian, saying, “@SIKAOFFICIAL1 this one di33 ebi tip off 📴. The check point at Thailand didn’t do their checks well or no detector was able to detect that …. Why all the way to Nigeria. Ebi sellout”.

“By now he is a Nigerian with a Ghanaian passport, and because our people foolishly love money they will make a Ghana birth certificate with a Ghanaian surname, it happens a lot”, another stated.

Another X also added, “ Which Ghanaian names their son “Hazekia?” He’s a Nigerian with a Ghanaian passport”.

Additionally, another wrote, “He’s no Ghanaian and it’s obvious. Check the name well. He definitely acquired an illegal passport and named himself Osei. Our naming system doesn’t work like this”.
