The Assin South Member of Parliament, Rev Ntim Fordjour has told NACOC and the NIB to prosecute drug kingpins, not just small drug dealers.

He questioned NACOC and the NIB about the prosecution of traffickers of big busts totalling half a billion dollars earlier this year.

His comments come after four persons were detained as the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) intercepted 89.74 kilograms of suspected cocaine bound for the Netherlands.

According to reports, the large consignment of suspected cocaine was intercepted at the Swiss Port in Tema.

Reports suggest a routine inspection on Wednesday, April 23, 2024, uncovered the cocaine.

It has been revealed that the cargo, which was being packed to be shipped to the Netherlands, contained concealed substances suspected to be cocaine.

73 slabs of cocaine were intercepted weighing approximately 89.74 kilograms were seized.

The four suspects are in custody assisting NACOC in their investigations to identify the source of the drug shipment, the owners and the recipient.

In a post on his social media page on X, Rev Ntim Fordjour wrote, “How far with the prosecution of the half-a-billion dollar cocaine busts? Now we hear commendable commitment from NACOC towards making our ports no-go for drug trafficking. The question to NACOC and NIB is, what happened to the prosecution of traffickers of big busts totaling half a billion dollars earlier this year?”

Rev Ntim Fordjour noted that there is a good update in updating Ghanaians about small busts of 89.74kg but the big busts of $350 million and $150 million when are the prosecution going to begin?

He added, “There’s a good update on the prosecution of small busts of 89.74kg. When are the suspects of the big busts of $350 million and $150 million going to begin? When will armed operatives storm their houses to arrest them for prosecution?

We are all concerned and collectively support the call for zero tolerance for drug trafficking and therefore demand that big busts must not be shielded for small busts to be showcased. Big busts must equally be prosecuted just with the same alacrity as the small busts”.

Meanwhile, Alexander Twum Barimah, Deputy Director General of NACOC stated the Assin South Member of Parliament, Rev Ntim Fordjour drug allegation was a fallacy.

According to NACOC, the member of parliament was just throwing dust into the air.

NACOC revealed that there was no such thing and Ntim Fordjour did not know what he was talking about.
