Maurice Ampaw, a private legal practitioner and radio show host on Wontumi Radio has boldly alleged that someone has taken over Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang’s vice president position even while she is alive.
According to Maurice Ampaw, the NDC is scheming to sideline the vice president after using her to gain power.
He asserted that Jane Naana since becoming the Vice President has not been effective and claimed her office has been abandoned.
His comments come after the news of Professor Jane Naana being rushed to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on Saturday, March 29, 2025, after a sudden illness on Friday night after work.
However, after administering the initial treatment, experts from the University of Ghana Medical Centre advised her to seek further treatment abroad.
It is unclear when she will be travelling to seek medical attention, but she is set to leave as soon as possible to restore her health to normalcy.
This health update was disclosed in a statement issued by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
“We wish the Vice President a speedy recovery,” it read.
The government has not disclosed further details about her condition or the specific country where she will be receiving treatment.
Maurice Ampaw reacting to the news claimed Jane Naana is old and sick, but because of political power, she was going all over the place campaigning in the 2024 election when she was visibly tired.
Speaking on his show Maurice Ampaw claimed, “I pray that Vice President Jane Opoku-Agyemang will recover. We don’t want any dark clouds hovering around the presidency. We don’t want anyone scheming to take the woman’s place. In any case, we don’t see how effective her position as Vice President is. You could see that the woman was used for the elections.
She is old and sick, but because of political power, she was going all over the place campaigning. You could see that she was visibly tired during the campaign, but they used her to secure power, and now they are dumping her. You can see that since she became the Vice President, she has not been effective”.
The private legal practitioner added, “She is always excluded from trips, her wardrobe is not the best and not well-packaged. Her office has been abandoned, and when you see her, one cannot even feel that she is the Vice President.”
Today, they want to lift her from Ghana and dump her abroad because someone has taken her position. Even while she is alive, someone else is performing the role of Vice President.
It is our prayer that God will heal her of any sickness so that she will live and enjoy the fruit of her labour. Whoever is behind this sickness, we pray and send it back to the sender because the woman is an innocent soul”, he boldly added.
Meanwhile, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has for the first time since news broke about her seeking urgent medical care at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), and her referral to a hospital abroad has spoken.
In her message, she expressed deep gratitude for the kindness and support shown by Ghanaians.
“Likewise, I would like to say thank you to everyone for the kind sentiments and well wishes this weekend.”
