Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang the vice president of Ghana has begun a three-week medical break today April 7 2025.
According to Jubilee House sources, the break follows medical advice from her doctor.
The news of her medical break came after she was rushed to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on Saturday, March 29, 2025, after a sudden illness on Friday night after work.
However, after administering the initial treatment, experts from the University of Ghana Medical Centre advised her to seek further treatment abroad.
This health update was disclosed in a statement issued by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
Meanwhile, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has debunked rumors about Ghana’s Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang facing a critical health crisis.
According to Okudzeto, the Veep is in good health and will soon resume her duties.
Addressing Ghanaians living in Nigeria, Ablakwa emphasised that prayers from Ghanaians both at home and abroad have contributed to her recovery.
“Some fears about the state of our mother, the first female vice president of the Republic of Ghana. I also want to assure that she is doing very, very well. Your prayers worked, your prayers from all of us, Ghanaians at home and abroad, have really worked.
“I have heard from her, so I know what I am talking about, and she’s doing well,” he stated.
Ablakwa urged the public to disregard what he described as “vicious and unGhanaian evil propaganda” being circulated about Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s health.
He expressed confidence in her ability to inspire young girls and women across the nation.
“Please ignore all of that very vicious and unGhanaian evil propaganda that some people are speculating. Our mother is doing very, very well, and very soon she is going to return to her duties, serving Ghana, making all of you proud and particularly inspiring our young girls, our daughters, to know that there is nothing our women cannot achieve that women are as good as men and that what men can do, women can also do and do it better,” Ablakwa added.
Additionally, James Gyakye Quayson, the Member of Parliament for Assin North has also revealed that Vice President Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is in a very good condition.
In a post on Facebook, James Gyakye Quayson wrote, “This evening, we received information from a credible source indicating that our esteemed vice president is in a very good condition,”
“May God/Allah continue to bless her with good health. We are all relieved by this news and wish her a swift return to her duties, serving the nation with the same dedication and grace she always has,” he added.
