Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has joined the Juapong Muslim community in his constituency to pray for healing and full recovery for the Vice President Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang.
Mr. Okudzeto in a recent post made on his X page expressed his joy in joining the Muslim community, highlighting the spirit of oneness and togetherness amongst Ghanaians. “We must continue to treasure our beautiful national cohesion and admirable inclusivity.”
In the post, he wished for the full recovery of the Vice President. “A major highlight was offering special prayers for the full recovery of our Vice President, Her Excellency Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang who by Allah’s grace is already recovering excellently.”
The Vice President was rushed to to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on Saturday, March 29, 2025 after a sudden illness on Friday night after work.
However, after administering the initial treatment, experts from the University of Ghana Medical Centre advised she seeks further treatment abroad.
It is unclear when she will be travelling to seek medical attention, but she is set to leave as soon as possible to restore her health to normalcy.
This health update was disclosed in a statement issued by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
“We wish the Vice President a speedy recovery,” it read.
The government has not disclosed further details about her condition or the specific country where she will be receiving treatment.
Members of the opposition, New Patriotic Party (NPP) has also called on the government to be transparent about the health of the Vice President, and provide details on her health to the Ghanaian people.
