Alexander Twum Barimah, Deputy Director General of NACOC has stated the Assin South Member of Parliament, Rev Ntim Fordjour drug allegation was a fallacy.
According to NACOC, the member of parliament was just throwing dust into the air.
NACOC revealed that there was no such thing and Ntim Fordjour did not know what he was talking about.
Speaking on CITI FM, Alexander Twum Barimah stated, “He [Ntim Fordjour] didn’t know what he was talking about; that was a fallacy. It is not something I want us to revisit or even entertain. The person who was saying it was just throwing dust into the air. There was no such thing”.
NACOC further added that the recent wave of drug-related interceptions of multiple cocaine busts is a highlight of effective leadership.
Alexander Twum Barimah added, “I can only say that now the country or the institution has quality leaders, who are actively working to ensure that the right things are done,” he said.
“The arrests of such persons confirm that we are working and that they don’t have their easy way they had in the past. Now we have quality and relentless leaders who are working hard to ensure we get this thing off our borders,” he added.
Meanwhile, four persons have been detained as the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) intercepted 89.74 kilograms of suspected cocaine bound for the Netherlands.
According to reports, the large consignment of suspected cocaine was intercepted at the Swiss Port in Tema.
Reports suggest a routine inspection on Wednesday, April 23, 2024, uncovered the cocaine.
It has been revealed that the cargo, which was being packed to be shipped to the Netherlands, contained concealed substances suspected to be cocaine.
73 slabs of cocaine were intercepted weighing approximately 89.74 kilograms were seized.
The four suspects are in custody assisting NACOC in their investigations to identify the source of the drug shipment, the owners and the recipient.
Additionally, the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) some months ago also intercepted $350m worth of cocaine shipment.
According to reports, the NIB seized approximately 3.3 tonnes of the illicit substance en route to Accra from the Western Region.
Test conducted by the NACOC and the Ghana Standards Authority established the consignment’s total weight of 3,319.68 kilograms, with pureness levels between 50% and 70%.
