Some concerned residents of the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency have come across a large stash of stolen cables and aluminium poles belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
Sadly, this stash was discovered in a bush at the outskirts of the town.
According to reports, the stash is suspected to be from some 1300 ECG containers which got missing from the Tema Port.
Aside from the materials found, a forklift was also discovered at the site. Residents believe the forklift was used to cart the items to the site, but abandoned in a hurry by the pepetrators.
Operatives of the National Security arrested twelve Chinese and a Ghanaian in connection to the ECG missing containers.
The information gathered suggests the arrested person is linked to two aluminium smelting companies located in Shai Hills.
Cables, trusted to be part of the missing load, were traced to an aluminium smelter owned by the Chinese, located opposite the Shai Hills Game Reserve.
According to reports the cables were being melted into aluminium bars for export.
National security is also said to be on a manhunt for another Chinese on the run.
John Jinapor the energy minister has vowed to hold those responsible for the disappearance of over 1,347 containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) accountable.
Meanwhile, a truck carrying suspected missing ECG cables has been impounded in Gomoa Awombrew.
According to the MP for Gomoa Central Kwame Asare-Obeng (A Plus), the truck was intercepted in his constituency.
