The New Patriotic Party (NPP) ‘Thank You Tour‘ has turned bloody following the stabbing of a student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Reports suggest the student is affiliated with Unity Hall (Conti) and has been hospitalised after he was stabbed multiple times during the NPP ‘Thank You’ tour at Bantama.
The victim was part of the Jama Group from Unity Hall hired by Kennedy Agyapong.
Eyewitnesses suggest a friend of Kennedy Agyapong at the event dashed the group some money after some gunmen suspected to be NPP members stormed the place and took the money.
This led to an altercation between the Jama group and the gunmen with gunshots being fired with one of the Jama members stabbed in the process.
The Jama group member was rushed to the emergency unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to receive treatment.
It has also been alleged that the stabbed Jama boy is a supporter of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong who was stabbed over a disagreement with other party members.
Meanwhile, Kennedy Agyapong has led his team to lodge an official complaint with the Ghana Police Service and the injured supporter currently receiving treatment.
The Ghana Police Service has yet to make an arrest so far.
Additionally, a former presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko has advised the party to pull the brakes on its ongoing ‘Thank You Tour’.
According to him, should his warning go without immediate action, the ‘Thank You Tour’ which seeks to reunite the party will only end up breaking it apart more.
“The ongoing Thank You Tour envisioned as a beacon of hope and a rallying point to reignite the spirit of our faithful and supporters, is, unfortunately, veering off course. What was intended to restore our party’s shine and reconnect us with the grassroots is instead unravelling into bouts of discord, blame-shifting, and internal strife,” he wrote.
He indicated that some undesirable events happening on the tour pose a significant threat to the party’s future.
