A pro New Patriotic Party (NPP) netizen, identified as Mr. Irish has supported accusations of some big wigs of the party supporting and even sponsoring the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win the 2024 general elections.
He affirmed the stance made by the Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mustapha Gbande in an interview with Bola Ray.
“There are NPP people who supported us to win this election. We know them we have people who are not political but supported us to win this election,” he stated.
Confirming this statement, Mr. Irish quoted the video and wrote, “In as much as this guy has some sorts of credibility issues, I think this is true.”
Mr. Irish revealed that some presidential aspirants of the NPP even went to the extent of providing resources to support the NDC’s campaign efforts.
“Some of our people including presidential aspirants supported them NDC with their resources and some too through their divisive utterances in the media space,” he wrote on his X page.
The NPP is said to have been divided going into the December 7, 2024 elections resulting in their overwhelming defeat.
With apathy having set in the party with others feeling neglected, the party seems to be gradually crumbling regardless of efforts made to rebuild.
Party executives have even gagged party faithful from speaking their hearts out and expressing their disappointment and dissatisfaction.
The NPP had earlier urged its members to desist from airing their dirty linen in public.
The party issued a directive to its members on Thursday, March 20, 2025. Signed by the party’s General Secretary, party faithful were urged to refrain from discussing internal party matters in the media that could lead to disaffection and unrest.
This comes in the wake of the party’s defeat in the recent elections, which has left many members expressing their frustration and disappointment publicly.
In a statement on Thursday, March 20, Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the Party emphasized the need for calm and unity among members, citing the party’s Constitution under Article 10(7)(5), which mandates coordination of party activities.
“Let us uphold the values of the NPP and work together to rebuild a stronger party for the future,” the statement read.
