According to Prof Frimpong Boateng, all NPP executives must resign for bad leadership, which led to the party’s shameful defeat.

He asserted that a change in leadership will restore dignity and trust among the grassroots as well as Ghanaians.

Speaking on Nhyira FM in Kumasi, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng stated, “All the executives must resign for leading the party to an unprecedented defeat; if the demons in the NPP are not removed from their leadership positions, the party will continue to suffer”.

Prof Frimpong Boateng further fired shots at former president Akufo-Addo for turning deaf ears to many pieces of advice which could have turned the country’s fortunes.

He added, “Akufo-Addo turned deaf ears to the many pieces of advice I gave him, which could have turned the fortunes. His governance was so disappointing. There are so many people behind the scenes in the NPP who love this country and could perform better, but were sidelined by President Akufo-Addo”.

“Good governance is common sense minus corruption; you don’t sit down and accumulate money as a country, you need exports which can be achieved by building a formidable human resource,”, Prof Frimpong Boateng emphasised.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has recounted the former president John Agyekum Kufuor told him after the 2024 miserable election defeat.

Reports suggest the minority caucus in Parliament, along with prominent members of the NPP, including former President Nana Addo, Dr Bawumia, and Kennedy Agyapong, gathered at the Rock City Hotel for a meeting to discuss the party’s future and strategize for the 2028 elections.

According to Dr Bawumia, he sometimes hears people ask him where does the NPP starts from after the heavy defeat.

He stated, “Sometimes, I hear people ask ‘Where do we start from’. The words of Prez Kufour always ring in my mind. He told me after the defeat that in 1996 when he had 39%, he too wondered where to start from. But with unity behind him and hard work in just 4 years, we crossed 50%. In the last election, we got 41%”.

The former vice president also thanked the NPP minority in parliament, “Many have likened you to the Minority of the 2nd Parliament led by our father, J.H Mensah. The party will be forever grateful to you.

“ I call you The Mighty Minority of 88 Infantry Battalion, commanded by Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo Markin,” he stated.

Dr Bawumia further asserted that the people of Ghana will soon realise the NPP were on the right side of the battle.

He added, “Obviously, we didn’t win. But I want you to be clear in your mind that over time, everyone will realise that we were on the right side of the battle”.

“The work that we had started and the plans we were about to roll out over time will be proven to be what would have been best for transforming our country”.

“So, I need you to keep your head up and committed to the further work ahead. We lost the battle in 2024, but we won’t lose this war. It will be tough, but I believe with God we shall eventually win,” he indicated.
