Sammy Gyamfi the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated the NDC win in the December polls was not the doing of a man but the doing of the lord.
The acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board asserted that he was sure the NDC was going to win resoundingly, but never imagined that the margin would be huge.
Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV, Sammy Gyamfi stated, “For sure, I knew we were going to win resoundingly, but I never imagined that we were going to win by that huge margin, over 1.6 million votes,” he stated.
“That tells me, and it should tell any objective mind, that the victory was not the doing of man but the doing of the Lord, and so we give thanks and praises to God,” he added.
The NDC John Mahama won the December 7 election pulling 6,591,790 (56.42%) and the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia polled 4,877,611 votes (41.75%).
Meanwhile, The 2024 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has once again reiterated that 2.1 million NPP supporters didn’t vote.
According to him, if the NPP decided to vote, they would have won the elections.
Speaking on the first day of his “Thank You Tour” at the NPP headquarters on Wednesday, April 23, Dr Bawumia stated, “Notwithstanding our hard work, we still suffered a heavy defeat. When you look at what happened, you will see that it was internal. Many of our supporters did not come out to vote.
“This is fundamentally why we lost the election. If you look at 2020 vis-à-vis 2024, 2.1 million of our supporters did not come out to vote. So, the key to victory is within the NPP because we decided not to vote. So, if we decide to vote, we will win,” he said.
The former Vice president further dismissed claims the NPP lost the 2024 elections because he was a Muslim.
Dr Bawumia boldly stated as a Muslim he performed better than many NPP parliamentary candidates including Rev Ntim Fordjour.
According to Dr Bawumia, it is false to say that the NPP lost the 2024 elections because he was a Muslim.
He asserted that data at his disposal indicates that the numbers show he even performed better than some Christian parliamentary candidates of the NPP.
