Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has boldly claimed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) does not give a damn about human lives.
He asserted that in the 2024 elections, the NPP were careful so that they would not be blamed for any more election-related deaths.
According to Salam Mustpah, the NPP in 2028 will also instruct party supporters to take over collation centres.
Speaking on Asaapa FM, Salam Mustapha stated, “Let us get to 2028. The way Sammy Gyamfi sat at the NDC party headquarters, held press conferences, and instructed party supporters to take over collation centres — we will do the same. Let me tell you why: when we were in office if any action led to someone’s death, the government was blamed. It would be said that we went into elections and people died”.
In 2020, when people died in Techiman South, Nana Akufo-Addo was blamed. So I was quite careful during this particular election to ensure we weren’t blamed for causing any deaths. But I have realised that the NDC does not give a damn about anything,” Salam Mustapha claimed.
He further revealed that as far as he remains a member of the NPP he will bring back every vigilante group disbanded.
According to Salam Mustapha, the disbanded groups are not vigilante groups as they are party members who also vote.
Salam Mustapha revealed that he is going to sponsor the formalization of this group into the NPP to have a security unit from the National to the constituency level.
He stated, “As far as I remain in this party if I am a National Executive or not never again will we say that we have disbanded this group, invisible, bulldogs we don’t like them anymore.
They are not vigilante groups they are party members, don’t they vote, so how are they, vigilantes? Even if they are vigilante we like them, and we will bring everybody back”.
“One of the proposals I am going to sponsor is that we formalize them in the party, to have a security unit in the party from National all the way to the constituency”, he added.
Two people were confirmed dead while several people were also said to have sustained gunshot wounds following a shooting incident at the Techiman South Constituency in the Bono East Region.
Meanwhile, the High Court in Wenchi has directed the state to pay GHc45,000 each as damages to six persons who suffered varying degrees of injuries during the shooting incident.
