A market woman in Kumasi has said the Interior Minister Hon. Muntaka Mubarak ‘was sick’ to have brought a bag of rice worth 100 cedis to victims of the Adum fire incident in such a difficult period.
In the viral video shared by EDHUB, the market woman was captured engaging with some other market women when he made those comments.
The Interior Minister some weeks ago visited the Adum PZ market fire site with a truckload of supplies, including 1,500 bags of rice and 800 boxes of cooking oil but was rejected.
According to the Adum fire victims who were heard loudly in a viral video, they do not need any rice donations from the Muntaka Mubarak.
The victims indicated they did not require food donations at that moment as their primary need was for the government to rebuild the market and ensure their businesses could be started again.
However, Traders affected by the Adum Bluelight fire disaster in Kumasi, have issued an unqualified apology to the Minister of Interior, Muntaka Mubarak.
The apology comes after traders jeered and booed at the minister when he made a presentation of bags of rice, boxes of oil and soap to the traders as part of relief towards them.
On behalf of the traders, a young man who also conducts business in the market apologized to the minister, saying they were misled by the market leadership.
“Hon. Muntaka please forgive us for we have sinned against you. We beg you what happened yesterday was not right. The leadership of Adum Bluelight need to be truthful to us. We didn’t know he had already dicsused with the leadership he was bring us those items and they agreed to it, and they didn’t even come and tell us anything. Our leaders made us do that. Hon Muntaka we beg you, forgive us,” he stated.
