Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, the acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority has fired shots at Ghanaian Lawyers.
The Director of Legal Services of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) noted that Lawyers in Ghana sat down for the former Electoral Commission Chairperson Charlotte Osei to be treated with no regard for the law.
He made this comment after some petitions were submitted to President John Dramani Mahama by individuals calling for the Chief Justice’s removal over alleged misconduct.
In response, President Mahama referred the petitions to the Council of State for advice and granted the Chief Justice a 10-day period to submit her response.
Speaking on TV3 The KeyPoint, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo stated, “We need to be very careful of the precedent that we set, when the issue of the CJ came up. I went out with some leading NPP senior lawyers and I said look you all sat down for Akufo-Addo to destroy this country and this my friend said if Akufo-Addo did the wrong thing why should John Mahama follow?
I said what in God’s name makes you think that Akudo-Addo deserves the right to be wrong but John Mahama cannot be wrong. What makes you guys think that for some reason you are a better place to do whatever pleases you and nobody can do the same?”, he added.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Osei, the former Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) post on her social media page has triggered a fire on X following Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo’s demands to see petitions seeking her removal.
Charlotte Osei reacting to the development posted a GIF of a woman sipping something, accompanied by the caption, “Sip sip …” which suggests she is enjoying what is going on.
Her post quickly obtained interest on social media, with users making comparisons between her dismissal and the present procedures against the Chief Justice.
Many users suggested that the stick that was used to beat Charlotte Osei is being used for the Chief Justice.
Additionally, the Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has accused the Mahama administration of trying to replace Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo with their own lackey to facilitate the swift removal of the Electoral Commissioner, Jean Mensa and her deputies.
Richard Ahiagbah in an X post stated, “ A grand scheme is underway to remove the Chief Justice and replace her with a preferred NDC-Mahama Chief Justice, who will implement the agenda of ousting the electoral commissioners (Jean Mensah and others).
This is a premeditated attack on institutional independence and, ultimately, on our democracy.
We must find the courage as citizens regardless of where we belong, to speak out unequivocally against the politics of the John Mahama Administration.
Silence would be a disservice to our posterity….”, his post stated.
