Alhaji Seidu Agongo a Businessman and philanthropist has said he wonders if Ken Ofori Atta’s wife, Angela, would not vote for him if his face was on the ballot paper for an election today.
The businessman noted that President John Dramani Mahama is president again because when he had the chance in his previous government he served Ghanaians well.
Seidu Agongo lost his bank, Heritage Bank, under the Akufo-Addo administration with Mr Ofori-Atta as Finance Minister during the banking sector clean-up exercise.
Speaking in an interview with Metro TV, Alhaji Seidu Agongo stated, “Political position can make and unmake you. His Excellency John Dramani Mahama is the president today because he had a political position and he served the people well.”
“Ken Ofori-Atta had a political position but today, if his face is on the ballot paper, I’m wondering if even his wife, Angela, would vote for him, so, once you’ve been given the position as a minister, you have to do your best”, he stated.
He further added, “Don’t forget those who made you who you are. Don’t forget those who voted for you because it can become the end of you or it can become the best of you.”
“Don’t make yourself different because today you are a minister, CEO”, he urged.
Meanwhile, Ken Ofori Atta today has sued the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and Kissi Agyebeng after he failed to remove his name from the OSP website wanted person.
This follows the OSP accusing him of causing financial loss to the state in several dealings including the construction of the famous National Cathedral and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA’s) – Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML), the loss reduction contract between ECG and Beijing Jao and Health Ministry to Service Ghana Auto Limited/Ambulances.
Alhaji Seidu Agongo in the same interview revealed his admiration for President John Dramani Mahama.
According to Alhaji Seidu Agongo, John Dramani Mahama eats with his enemies and it will be difficult for one to tell you are his enemy when you engage him.
He noted that President Mahama is not vindictive as he helped former member of parliament Kennedy Agyapong retrieve his locked-up money with ECG despite Ken being one of Mahama’s ferocious critics while in government during his previous term.
Alhaji Seidu Agongo, “His Excellency John Mahama is someone I admire so much. He even eats with his enemies. It is difficult to tell that you are his enemy when you are talking to him. He is ready to support anyone and everyone to evolve and become the best. I have never heard President John Dramani Mahama trying to crucify anybody,” he said.
Alhaji Seidu Agongo added, “This is a secret that I want to reveal. There were times when Ken Agyapong’s money was locked up. He did some business with the Electricity Company of Ghana, but his money was locked. He went to JM, and Mahama ensured that he was paid under the previous NDC government—not because of Ken Agyapong himself, but because he understood that as a businessman, other lives depended on him.
If you go back to what Ken Agyapong did to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, one would not have expected him to support him. I have known him and I know the kindness of his heart and his focus. His focus is how to build a legacy, how to make Ghana to be self-sustaining”.
