Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu led scores of party faithful to the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) Kawukudi office to demand the release of one Mohammed Amadou Zakuo.
Mohammed Amadou Zakuo was picked up by NIB officials after a post he made on Facebook declaring the Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang dead.
The post dated April 4, 2025 read, “Rest Well Your Excellency”.
“It was just the usual banter by the youth on Facebook, but they’ve taken it as seriously as a World Cup,” John Boadu told the press.
He further indicated that there are several other serious issues the security services must focus on rather than try to intimidate innocent citizens like Mohammed Amadou Zakuo.
John Boadu’s comment however has garnered a lot of attention with Ghanaians having varied opinions about his comments.

@1BongoIdeas – Kwasia, wasn’t the same social media post I made which got me kidnapped, tortured and left to die? And even with mine, I gave out credible information. You should be glad he wasn’t picked up at dawn, sent to a river, unclad & beaten to pulp. N0nsense!
@GHDeservesBest – What do you take Ghanaians for, @NPP_GH? Your party thrives on misinformation; spreading jandam because you rely on the ignorance of many to believe and share falsehoods like wildfire. In Ghana, negativity sells, and you shamelessly ride that wave to mislead the public. But how low can you go to organize media reports accusing the airport of cocaine trafficking and money laundering, without a shred of evidence? That’s far below the belt. And suddenly, another NPP voice falsely claims the Vice President is dead, when we all know she’s alive and recovering. That’s not politics. That’s not a joke. That’s disgraceful. You’ve shown time and again that you can’t govern a country; only tear it apart. The last 8 years proved it. Ghanaians saw the tyranny under @NAkufoAddo and @MBawumia. Freedom of speech was crushed. Misinformation ruled the airwaves. But the people saw it all for themselves.
@Morobilthought – He should even be arrested again after release. Social media has given a lot people the strength to spread malicious information and issues about innocent people to the masses for far too long! We need to get the law enforcement agencies supported on this agenda at all costs. It is just not right!
@iamogidigidi – It started as casual banter, but Bongo was abruptly arrested for discussing the president. The NIB should deny his release—we don’t process bail on weekends.
@kwaku_jamal – NPP has a lot of half-wits these days.
@10_ova_10 – Because of Democracy so you ppl want to go about doing stupid things. Nkwasiafuo, if the VP was your mum would you happy seeing one idiot say she’s dead whiles she’s not. He should show em where she died. Kwasiakwa
@kwamebounty – Just imagine Nana Addo picked people up for such comments, how many ndc supporters would have been left online. Yet he was tagged as intolerant.
@Scanty_houseboy – No wonder he was voted out. “Social media banter” with someone’s life
@billchris720 – Am shocked he described the post as banter. Why hasn’t John Buadu posted same if he feels that was right. They will always use the f00ls as escape goats whiles they advise their kids to do the right thing and not fall foul to the law.
