The former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya Sarah Adwoa Safo has cried out about her treatment by the NPP after she was not informed about the cancellation of her appearance at the NPP disciplinary committee.
According to Adwoa Safo, she had not received any formal notification of the cancellation and how she was being treated was disheartening.
She noted that some person within the party had her number and if there was a change she could have been called directly.
Adwoa Safo further asserted that the message being sent to the public was that she had done something wrong, something untoward and that she had come here to be disciplined.
Adwoa Safo at the NPP party office in Asylum Down in Accra on Monday, 7 April stated, “There was no committee sitting today, I had an engagement with a national party officer, but there was no hearing. I’m left wondering why I was served a summons on a Sunday for a meeting that didn’t take place. If there was a change of plans, why wasn’t I personally informed? Why wasn’t I contacted by phone? Some of you have my number directly”.
“As a party, we need to take these matters more seriously. I came here ready for the committee meeting, but now I find myself in a situation where there’s no hearing, no committee, and no explanation. This could have been handled much more effectively.”
She added, “The message being sent to the public is that I have done something wrong, something untoward and that I have come here to be disciplined”.
I’ve come here, but there is no one here, which suggests the case is either baseless or there is no finding on it. I thought this matter could have been handled better, which is why I came here today to see what was happening, only to find nothing has been done. Is this how I’m being treated? It’s disheartening.”
“I will be available to appear before the party whenever I’m called upon,” she added.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) postponed the disciplinary hearing of former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo.
According to the NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party is scheduled to meet on Monday, April 7 at its headquarters to address concerns of alleged drug trafficking at the Kotoka International Airport.
Speaking on Channel One, Justin Kodua Frimpong stated, “There will be a meeting at the NPP headquarters, but I am going to disappoint you it is not going to be a discussion on whether or not Honourable Adwoa Safo is going to appear before a disciplinary committee or not.
“However, what the party is going to discuss is the running issue with respect to the alleged drug trafficking in our country, which the rank and file of our party have expressed its disappointment and the worrying behaviour of this government”.
“The several mind-boggling questions that we are expecting the government to explain to the people of Ghana and also the inconsistencies in its attempt to sweep under the carpet several issues that concern or surround the alleged drug trafficking in our airport,” Frimpong added.
Adwoa Safo in the last few weeks has been on a media rampage ranting about her long-endured unfair treatment.
Sarah Adwoa Safo cried out that there was a character assassination against her.
According to Adwoa Safo, there was a need for her to set the records straight and nobody should tell her that she was discussing party issues on TV or Radio.
She asserted that things that were said against her are now stuck in the minds of many Ghanaians and she had been branded in a way.
