Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe says most appointees under the erstwhile Akufo-Addo government will be in jail if President Mahama was as cruel as the former president.
According to him, most appointees under the erstwhile government cannot survive in Ghana if President Mahama decides to use standards employed by Akufo-Addo from 2017 till his tenure expired.
“Relax you have no idea what is coming. Stay calm because if we use the Akufo-Addo standard most of you will be in prison. If we use the Aklufo-Addo standard that he used from 2017 till date you can’t survive in this country. Do you know what people have gone through and they are quiet?” he directed at Akufo-Addo appointees.
Edudzi Tamakloe recounting horrifying incidents suffered by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) when former President Akufo-Addo assumed in 2016 stated, “You have not seen anything yet. Relax relax koraa. I remember same time around this time in 2016, by January key appointees of John Mahama was made to sleep at counter back in police stations.”
He reminded Ghanaians how the current Attorney-General, Dominic Ayine’s home was surrounded by armed men as early as 5am.
“And what was his offence? He wrote a legal opinion. You (NPP) went to the point of even criminalizing legal opinion. We wake up one morning and Jinapor was at home with his children and wife and armed men stormed his home. Honorable Kwabena Donkor was at home and armed men stormed his house and now you say something is bound to fail. Relax and watch,” he added.
The Minority in Parliament has stopped what it describes as an illegal and politically motivated attempt by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) to arrest the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour.
The incident took place at the MP’s Spintex residence in Accra on Wednesday, April 9, following allegations he made concerning two suspicious aircraft that allegedly landed at Kotoka International Airport, carrying drugs and large sums of cash.
Although government officials have dismissed the claims as unfounded, the attempted arrest has sparked fears of a crackdown on opposition voices raising concerns about national issues.
Members of the Minority quickly mobilized to the MP’s residence, insisting that the NIB operatives lacked a warrant and legal basis for the arrest.
