Kwaku Atta Sarpong, the Ashanti Regional Deputy Organiser of the NPP has fired shots at Ernest Owusu-Bempah, a Deputy Communications Officer of the party over his recent interview with Oyerpa TV.
According to Kwaku Atta Sarpong, Owusu-Bempah must simply shut up if he has nothing sensible to say.
He asserted that Ernest Owusu-Bempah’s divisive and reckless dashed the Asante Akyem North seat to an independent candidate.
Kwaku Atta Sarpong in a statement stated, “It has become necessary to respond to the recent comments by Ernest Owusu-Bempah concerning who should lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP). If Mr Bempah has nothing sensible or constructive to say on this matter, he must simply shut up.
“He should rather focus on his own constituency, Asante Akyem North (AAN), which he effectively dashed to an independent candidate, largely due to his divisive and reckless comments on radio in Agogo. His actions have weakened the party’s strength in the area, and he has no moral authority to interfere in national party leadership discussions,” he said.
He further added, “The NPP is currently working hard to rebuild, unify, and prepare for victory in the 2028 elections. We will not allow distractions from individuals who have, in the past, chosen self-interest over party interest.
“Let it be known that the NPP’s future will be determined by loyal, dedicated, and competent patriots, not loud voices without substance,” his statement concluded.
His comment comes after Ernest Owusu-Bempah boldly stated that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was the wrong choice for NPP’s flagbearer and also not the man of the people.
According to Ernest Owusu Bempah, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is not the man of the people as the NPP grassroots was disillusioned by the leadership’s choice, leading them to abstain from voting in the 2024 elections.
Ernest Owusu-Bempah asserted that Dr Bawumia must be rejected as the NPP’s flagbearer for 2028.
He boldly claimed that 2.1 million Ghanaians did not vote because of Dr Mahamaudu Bawumia.
He revealed that a Taxi driver who is an NPP member boldly told him he voted for NDC because the NPP did not present the right candidate.
Speaking on Oyerpa TV in an interview, Ernest Owusu-Bempah stated, “There are so many things going on in this country when you look at the youth they are losing interest in politics.
For the first time, I met a taxi driver who is a member of NPP who told me that he voted for the NDC in the 2024 election, he showed me his party card, and the reason was that we didn’t take the right candidate for him to come and vote for and this are evidence on the ground. God is my witness it is not a joke”.
He added, “We are listening to the ordinary Ghanaian people what they are saying, what I say is what people are saying not my opinion. The future of the NPP depends on these two people. I was in New York I was almost heckled by the Ghanaian community in New York. They say when they advise us we don’t listen, we should bring Kennedy Agyapong and they will vote for him.
Go down there with a hidden camera and ask the ordinary people why they refused to vote. 2.1 million decided not to go and vote, 2.1 million, do you think it is a joke? NPP party base, supporters refused to vote, do you know what that means?”, he added.
Ernest Owusu Bempah asked NPP members to wait for the committee reports, “Let Prof Mike Oquaye’s Committee bring out their report and that is where we will hear things”.
Meanwhile, Ernest Owusu-Bempah, the deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party has boldly stated former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, and Member of Parliament for the Abetifi Constituency, Bryan Acheampong is the future of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“I don’t believe in using the police for decongestion because I will spend so much on them, and after that, we will get back to the status quo,” he said.
“Those on the middle of the road, some of them are cooking, selling all manner of food, it’s not attract, I want to deal with it head-on.
“Kumasi is engulfed with so much filth and I want to deal with it head-on.”
“We won’t get to that point, let the focus be on the end product.”
