Social activist and lead Convener of the FixTheCountry and Democracy Hub, Oliver Barker-Vormawor has stated if Operation Recover All Loot had arrested 250 people by now the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would not have time to make up fake cocaine rumours.
In a post on X, Oliver Barker Vormawor stated, “ If ORAL had arrested 250 people by now, they won’t have had time to be making up fake cocaine rumours. But here we are!”.
Vormawor comments come on the back of the back and forth between the government and the Ranking Member for Defense and Interior Rev Ntim Fordjour.
Rev John Ntim Fordjour in a press conference alleged that two suspicious flights AirMed Flight N823AM and Cavok Air Antonov An-12B recently landed at Kotoka International Airport from Gran Canaria, a location known for drug trafficking and money laundering. Intelligence suggests these flights carried suspected cocaine and cash.
The Minority demanded full disclosure of the cargo contents to assure Ghanaians of airspace security which the government disclosed but Ntim Fordjour has still insisted in the statement posted on Social media on Thursday, April 4, 2025, described the government’s explanations about two flights linked to illicit cargo as “incoherent and questionable,” casting doubts on their legitimacy.
However, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications has tackled the Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee, Rev John Ntim Fordjour for peddling total falsehoods and lies.
According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Rev John Ntim Fordjour was peddling falsehood in a bid to undermine the goodwill the government is enjoying from Ghanaians.
Over the weekend he also released photos and video of the claimed aircraft.
Felix Kwakye stated, “These pictures show engineers fixing damaged tyres on the landing gear of Air Med Aircraft at the Kotoka International Airport. The damaged parts and engineers were brought in by a different aircraft, reason why it stayed here for five days. Don’t let anyone lie to you”.
On February 10, 2025, the ORAL team submitted their final report to President John Mahama, who has since directed the Attorney General for further actions.
The chairman of Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) and Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa revealed that with just 36 cases, Ghana can potentially recover $ 20.49 billion in stolen state resources.
President John Mahama has stated every pesewa recovered from Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) will be channelled back into national development.
Meanwhile, Daniel Domelevo the former Auditor-General has called on Ghanaians to be a little bit patient with the Operation Recover All Loots reports.
According to Daniel Domelevo, Ghanaians have been quizzing when there is going to be an arrest and prosecution.
He asserted that it is premature for people to call for arrest and prosecution because all the ORAL team did was gather information.
