A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team Lawuratu Musah-Saaka has retracted and apologise to the NDC member of parliament for Sekondi Blay Nyameke Armah.
Her retraction and apology come following the MP filing a defamation lawsuit against an NPP member, Jospong and Metro TV.
She claimed the member of parliament had fled the country to a neighbouring country to evade arrest and that his son had been apprehended in connection with the alleged cocaine burst.
Lawuratu Musah-Saaka on Good Morning Ghana stated, “$350m worth, it is alleged that it belongs to the 2024 Sekondi NDC parliamentary candidate and that he has run to a neighbouring country, his son has been arrested that is the allegation in this country the son was arrested, the father runaway who is the MP, is this true what is the NIB telling us?”
Lawyers for Blay Nyameke Armah stated on April 9, the first defendant Lawuratu Musah-Saka falsely accused him of being involved in the 3,000 kilograms of cocaine valued at $350 million.
Blay Nyameke Armah’s lawsuit is seeking multiple legal remedies, including:
A declaration that the statements made by the first defendant were false, malicious, and defamatory. A public retraction and apology issued by the defendants with the same prominence as the defamatory content.
An order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendants from publishing further defamatory statements. General, aggravated, punitive, and compensatory damages totalling GH₵10,000,000.00. Legal costs and any other reliefs deemed appropriate by the court.
Lawuratu Musah-Saaka today is quoted to have said, “I retract and apologise to the Sekondi MP and I am not above retraction when I make genuine mistakes.”
Meanwhile, Blay Nyameke Armah speaking in an interview on Oyerepa TV stated on the alleged cocaine claims stated, “For me, Lawyer Blay Armah, all the allegations being peddled against me, I have no hand in them. The next thing is that they will hear from my lawyers”.
“It’s on Twitter and all over social media. But as I’m saying, in my entire life, I have never seen cocaine before. Whether it is white, or green I have not seen some with my eyes before. And the amount of money they’re mentioning, if I had that kind of money, would I still be here? I would have bought an island somewhere in the Caribbean”, he added.
